Canigao Island Philippines

Are you searching for a place to spend this summer? I suggest hop to the Island of Canigao
An uninhabited small island located in the municipality of Matalom, Southern part of Leyte Philippines. This small island (so small that can walk around it in less than an hour) is a favorite inexpensive place to escape of Leyteños and from the neighboring.

The wonders of this island are white sand beaches, tropical sea creatures and coral reefs. These natural wonders attracts tourists to do scuba diving.

The island took an 11 minute trip from the town, so we rode a banca, it's P50 per head. But before you can get into the baca, a 20 meters walk through a narrow bridge made of bamboo raft was needed. Anyway, no need to worry because there are  crews  ready to help.

The island requires an entrance fee to all guests at an affordable cost, P20 for children and P50 for adult. If you bring foods, no need to pay for the corkage because it's totally FREE to bring any kind.

For an overnight stay in the island, rooms, cottages and tents are available for lease at a budget friendly price.

Room - P1, 500 with double deck bed

Cottage - P500 + P200 for overnight stay

Tent - P200 + P100 for space rental

Also the common CR is available on the island and you need to pay P20 for bath use, P10 for a pee or discharge use.

The Canigao Island's power source is from a generator that is turned on at 6pm.
Aside from having a blast on the natural wonders of the island and encounter hand in hand with sea creatures you can as well make your tummy full with freshly caught sea foods.

You can as well shop for souvenirs if you're fond of collecting items from your trip or give it as a "pasalubong".

All in all it was such a wonderful trip on Canigao Island. Actually, I want to be back in this small island together with Vince and hubby.

Have a happy trip!

I would prefer to stay in the room even though the rate is much higher. I experienced sleeping inside the tent about three times and did not like the hard surface. My back hurt the next morning.

Very affordable rates and a good way to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of city life.

I love to go outing, to do outdoor camping for I am used to this kind of activity as what we did often as a scouter. There's fun in sleeping outside. I love adventure, going around to enjoy what nature has to offer.

I've been here many years ago, that was 1997. In this place is not like this, now it has many cottages, already have a CR, etc...by the way my father is from Matalom, Leyte. And planning to go back this May 2015 for the Feast of Santa Felomina, the patron saint of Matalom, Leyte.

The seas shells in the Philippines are the best anywhere! They have these little brown shells called choco sticks that I want to go on vacation to buy or find in person!
