Me Time: Health Tests

Who loves “Me Time?” well, count me in because I love rewarding myself with trip to salon, shopping spree and health check. Yeah, you read it right, I consider health check as very important me time especially that I have family to take care of.

Me time health tests that I shouldn’t miss are listed below:

  • Blood pressure test
  • Pap smear/cervical cancer screening
  • Flu vaccine

I do much agree in the popular phrase that says “prevention is better than cure”. That is why the last two health tests are very much needed to prevent serious disease that may surely lead to hospitalization. If you are able to include health tests in you me time, then you are leading towards living a healthy life.

Health is wealth, so you're right to make it a top priority. I always have Pap smear done every year and I receive my annual flu shot, too. My BP is okay, but I have a high level of bad cholesterol which is partly genetic. -- Maria Teresa Figuerres

Good reminder of taking care of yourself. That certainly counts as "me time."

I get a flu shot every year and have an exam with my primary doctor too. I no longer need a pap smear (hysterectomy) but will be getting a mammogram every year starting this year. Health screenings are so important!

Thank you for reminding me. I haven't been to the hospital. My last pap smear/cervical cancer screening was before my youngest and that was years ago. I guess I need to visit the hospital this year. :(

Carmen Perez: I always get all of my checks done on time, there's a lot of cancer in my family :-(

Don't forget a mammogram! That is one of the most important tests! I have a strong family history of breast cancer and a mammogram is my me time!

Its true that we sometimes let our own health slip. I know I do this and I put my husband and my son's needs in front of mine and tell myself that it's okay, I'll get checked some other time. Thanks for giving me a reminder to do so!

I am up to date on all of mine. I do need to learn how to take more me time when it comes to getting my nails done and giving myself time alone.

That's a great plan! The best thing really we can give to our family is a gift of health.

Hopefully this year I can get my first pap smear test

I never thought of 'me time' as including a pap smear, but your explanation does make sense. I'm due sometime in February for one (*sigh*) and haven't gotten to the point where I see it as 'me time' unless I go get something nice to eat afterwards.

Prevention is better than cure. This is a good reminder for all of us to do so too.

A reward for me is just have an alone time at home. No salon for me.

Better to have it checked early - I am having tons of health issues by the start of the year :( On the healing process now though.. :)

Woah, I wouldn't think of this for me-time but why not, right? Gotta take care of oneself! We have differing opinions regarding the flu shot but, in that case, I'll check into boosting my immune system after this excellent reminder :)

Thank you!
